Premium Gasoline vs regular gasoline with Octane booster?
Hi,
My car’s owner’s manual says that I have to put premium gasoline in my car.
I was wondering would it make a difference if I put regular gas and add octane booster?
I know it sounds stupid but I can save about $4 a fill up that way.
Actually octane booster is $1 not $10

Use premium fuel its the safest way!!
If a bottle of octane boost cost $10 and it treats 25 gallons then that’s 40 cent per gallon.
Premium is 20 cent per gallon extra.
Does not add up well for you.
Sounds like you are paying a lot for gas at an astronomical price. Octane booster can be expensive but you can use it. Try Sunoco, it ‘s a good grade of gas and will perform well while keping the combustion chambers clean.
Octane booster doesn’t actually add that much octane to 87 because points mean different things to different people. If it markets it as raising it 5 points…that makes your octane actually 87.5 not 92. Boom…you just got ripped off. They don’t sell an octane booster that raises the octane 50 points which would actually raise octane to a premium fuel level. I think you might’ve failed at the math unless you’re filling up a tank. Average gas tank=12 gallons= an extra 2 bucks. You’re filling up a 24 gallon tank? That’s around what the viper ram truck had but I doubt that’s what you’re driving and you wouldn’t be complaining about an extra 4 bucks a week.
I’m not sure what’s going on here but if it says premium you use premium because that’s what the fuel mapping is for.
If manual recommends prem. use it , octane booster will mess with sensor settings for computer and could end up burning valves,and holes in piston tops.
