believe it or not smaller engines dont get better gas mileage get the 6 cylinder and you will save lots…in my 1994 towncar, which is a V8, i get around 23-25 without cruise on the highway and 28-29 with it on

Cruise control saves a lot of fuel for two reasons. The obvious one is that you’re not wasting energy by constantly speeding up and slowing down. The second is that if you’re smart you’ll set it at a non-maniacal speed like 70. Without it, you tend to blast along at 85. At least I do. Cars are more efficient at 60-70 than at 80+.

There are a lot of variables involved here. The 4 cylinder is gong to have to work harder at high speeds, and your gas mileage will suffer. A 6 cylinder will burn more gas (more cylinders) but it won’t have to work as hard. Cruise control is just a convenience; on hilly roads it can actually hurt gas mileage because the car is downshifting to maintain speed up hills. Main suggestion is drive with a light foot and keep your speed down.
