drive less
drive slower (unfortunately, but it does help)
public transportation
public boycott of all wasteful luxury cars and SUVs
though you can’t do it yourself, if automakers produced lighter-weight and smaller cars, it would be much better for mileage – and cheaper than hybrids.
make sure the tires are fully inflated to there correct pressure and make sure the car has its regularly oil change every 3000 or 5000 with synthenic, keep the air filter clean,
or buy electric or hybrid
A properly tuned up engine, tires inflated to the right pressure and go easy on the gas pedal…. thats about it.
you could either spend a couple of grand on a 4 banger that eats very little gas or drive a car with manual transmission. with a manual transmission you could have better control over the engine than an auto
