is there any affect towards fuel when freeing the gear?
when i drive and stop at the traffic lights, i usually free the gear to release the clutch. will it help me saving my fuel if i do that?

No – but, it will lengthen the life of the clutch throwout bearing.

There is no saving of fuel.. if fact if there is a saving it would be with just putting the clutch in (to the floor) as that would stop the rotation of the internal parts of the transmission.. if you take it out of gear and let the clutch out the internal parts would start turning cause some drag on the motor .. mind you very, very little but some drag.

vs just pushing in the clutch? nope, actually you will use a micro amount more.
Clutch depressed the main shaft on the trans doesn’t turn.
Trans in neutral, clutch not depressed, trans main shaft spins. It takes power to spin it. Very small amount but it comes from the engine and the harder the engine has to work, the more fuel it requires to do so.
I mean you asked. It’s going to be so little of an amount you won’t notice it.
