Is It True That If I Take Out The Removeable Back Seats Of My Car, I Can Save A Lot Of Money On Gasoline?

The back seats weigh about 80 pounds. Someone told me that if i take them out of my car, i will save a fortune because my car is working harder pushing these seats around unnecessarily.
It’s not like i use the back seats for anything.

This is an old racing trick, and yes it works, BUT for a street car the difference is negligible…
If you want to go to extremes you would do that, ALONG with removing the stereo and all related equipment, you would go with carbon fiber panels rather than steel, and you could lose weight by “punching” out your frame. (making lots of little holes to reduce rolling weight) and you would eliminate your spare tire along with any tools.
On a much better note (and a lot safer)
you can buy the new upcoming VW diesel hybrid that is reported to get around 70 mpg.
You can also examine some other alternative methods such as WVO like I operate with. I am also examining HHO to use in my car and my diesel truck that I run WVO.
HHO/Brown’s Gas/Hydroxy (all the same thing) kits can be found on ebay for some reasonable prices.
If you have any particular questions, feel free to email me.

If you NEVER use the back seat sure take em out. But the savings per year in fuel will probably be less than 20 bucks a year.
Also unless you have a van or truck your seats weigh much less than 80lbs.

You aren’t going to save much money if anything. Its just 80 pounds. It’s like driving around with a kid in your car. No noticable difference at all.

You won’t notice much of a difference; after removing a couple hundred pounds you might. Best thing to do is not to carry anything in the car that isn’t necessary. If you are going to remove the spare tire and jack, just make sure you carry a can of fix-a-flat with you. It won’t guarantee that you’ll be able to drive the car if you split the sidewall, but it’s better than nothing.

Any kind of weight you remove from any car, will make the engine work less hard to push the car, hence, you save a bit of gas, but how much, depends on each car, and how much weight you remove…

dont bother …..
