Is It Ok To Use Clear Flexible Tubing For Gasoline Lines?

3

I am currently building a jet ski and i’m trying to save as much money as i can. All that is left is to install gas lines. Can i go pick up some clear plastic flexible tubing at a place like lowes or is it important to buy proper gasoline lines? Thanks everyone!

NO… DO NOT USE!
Use only lines rated for fuel. Fuel can deteriorate lines that are not meant to carry gasoline.
Go to Pep Boys, Advanced Auto, etc. and pick up some actual fuel line.

believe it or not clear vinyl hose is impervious to most any fuel component you will ever use. methanol, toluene, acetone, gasoline, all can be safely used in the stuff. but i won’t use it ever again myself if possible cause sunlight rots it in no time. if you want to replace it every year ok but id go with something else. tygon line is great stuff. if you keep it completely out any UV light it will last for years often but i don’t like it and recommend a better type. it melts easy compared to rubber hose also. not a bad choice for experiments though.

No only use proper gas line it’s not that expensive at all just go to your local auto parts store they should be able to cut you some off a roll they usually have a few sizes in the store you can even only buy a couple of feet of hose it’s not that expensive and it’s designed to handle gasoline.
