Is it good idea to trade or sell my 2006 Honda Civic car?

5

I need to downgrade my car to a smaller car that saves HUGE gasoline. I owe the Honda $5,900. Im pondering on whether I should trade my car to a smaller car at the car dealership, have them pay for the balance I owe and drive the smaller car without paying any cents.

OR

I sell my car to an individual and get about $8K to $9K and pay off the $5,900 I owe and buy a smaller car?
My 2006 Honda Civic doesnt really save gasoline! I was looking something like 40 to 60 MPG!
Im looking for an used small car maybe in the year of 1990 to 2000.

What could possibly be smaller than a Civic or gets better mileage? You need to rethink this

A car that gets better gas mileage than a Civic? They get 26 mpg in the city and 34 hwy. That’s still pretty good.

I imagine that if you sell your car and get a smaller car, what you would spend on a new car would eat up all the gas savings for many years. But if you insist on getting another car, then you would get a better price by selling your Civic privately.

However, your best bet might be to just hang onto the Civic and keep it in good running order until it falls apart and you don’t want to pump any more money into it. I would say your probably could get another six years out of it. That would pay for a lot of gas.

Are you joking?

The only other car that gets better gas mileage is a Prius.

How much better fuel economy do you think you’ll get over a Honda Civic? It is rated at well over 30mpg already.

How do you intend to trade in a car and not pay anything for the new car? You owe $5900, you can sell it for $9000. That leaves you with $3000 cash. Do you expect to get a better car than your 2006 Civic for only $3000? Not very likely.

It’s always a good idea to get rid of a Honda. The only thing smaller is a Schwinn though. Seriously, wtf are you thinking!?
