Is it beneficial to be on a high gear with lower RPM’s? does that save gas on a standard car?
I would imagine so because if your on lower rpm’s, you obviously have little revolutions, thus saving gas. But I was also thinking that if you do have it on a high gear, you’ll be exerting alot of power but not using it.

Your line of reasoning is correct. However, there is a practical range of gear/rpm that you need to stay in to avoid lugging your engine, which is obvious. You will save gas at lower rpm and higher gear at the expense of power, but when driving steadily you don’t need the extra power. I try to be fuel-conscious in this way myself.
In stop and go driving it’s best to be in the peak of your power band. If you are in too low a gear it takes more gas to accelerate, so its not good to be in too high a gear around town. But if your on the highway you can’t have enough gears and its best to be in a high gear.
