Don’t know but they are gorgeous!
I can think of many great economy cars, but none are better than the Civic.
When I compare resale value, gas mileage, reliability and value, it always beats it’s competition. The Civic is the King.
No The Toyota Corolla S is the top winner they have the highest rating MPG on the Road, HoNDa is 2nd to Toyota. Because Honda is a more reliable car & the Civic Si give you more performance than a Corolla S.
Toyota are the best when it comes to repairs and now they have the SCION line of cars but there are choices out there too Mazda, Nissan are just as good on Gas and the resale value is good too. I prefer Nissan because they have been leading the Japanese auto sales the past 5 years. The performance luxury gives you more options than Toyota and Honda.
The Toyota Prius gets better gas mileage.
Civics are great cars on gas- one of the best but not the best unless you’re talking about the 1992-1995 Civic VX or 1984-1991 Civic CRX HF. Those cars even make the Prius Hybrid look bad. There was an article on Yahoo about a month ago about a guy getting 61 mpg (low 50s with A/C on) in a 1992 Honda Civic VX which was completely stock with 170,000 miles on it . No hybrid has done that in real world situations. Here’s the article on it.

There used to be a lot of cars that broke the 40 mpg barrier back in the 80s and 90s- most were from Japan. Honda even made the VX mentioned in te article- which was replaced by the HX. Funny thing is, Honda had the HX in production until ’05 or ’06 I believe. It actually got equal or better mpg than the Hybrid in real world driving. Makes you wonder why Honda would get rid of it in favor of the more expensive Hybrid. Could that car had been a reminder that the current Hybrids aren’t as great as their marketing has made them out to be?
I drive one, and honestly its a great car for gas, but not the best. I’ve seen toyota’s with better gas, but civic is often ranked the best because of other factors like lack of repairs and breakdowns.

I own a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid that is getting 49.4 mpg overall. As a diehard Toyota fan I wasn’t to sure about the Civic but I’m glad I bought it. A lot of Civic Hybrid owners don’t believe it until I show them the mpg, they complain that they only get 35 to 38 mpg but it is all in how you drive it.
