Increase gas consumption with short air intake 2008 dodge charger?
I recently installed an air intake in my charger. Ive noticed that it has also been wasting more gas for some reason. Why is it? People tell me i need to straight pipe it from the catback all the way to the back to get the full benefits of a better breathing system AND to improve gas mileage. Im almost thinking of going back to stock to save on gas again…can someone tell me what i need to do? Everything is placed where it should be like the sensor and hose from the intake to the engine.

most of the time a short air intake without an icebox is a waste of time and money as heatsoak will kill any advantage, however
if it works then it’s putting more air into the engine and therefore your engine will put more gas to keep the fuel ratio correct so it will use more gas… that’s how it develops more power
problem with just slapping on parts is that it really doesn’t do anything unless you reprogram the ECU to take advantage
