Toyota Corolla or Toyota Yaris.
Both under $15K and have reliable engines.
I personally love my Jetta. If you don’t drive like a maniac you can get 350 miles out of the 14.5 gallon tank (i have an ’03). Hybrids will get you a big tax write off for 2007 though. Any small car is going to be better with gas than an SUV. As long as you drive reasonable speeds you will get more gas out of your tank.
You should get a toyota MR2. Its only a 2 seater and is a 4 cylinder. They are very reliable and good looking in any year.
Honda civic, good on gas and last a long time
Honda Civic
Toyota Corolla
VW Jetta
All have reliable engines and get excelent MPG.
I have a toyota corolla
30 MPG city. Haven’t done a lot of HWY driving yet.
Yaris might be good too.
