If you wish to save fuel and your’e going to leave your cool house for a half hour or so on a very hot day….?
If you wish to save fuel and your’e going to leave your cool house for a half hour or so on a very hot day, should you turn your air conditioning thermostat up a bit, turn it off altogether, or let itremain at the room tempeature you desire?

If you’re only going to leave for a short amount of time, you should definitely leave it on. In general, it takes less energy to keep a room/house at a certain temperature than to let it warm up considerably and then have the AC stay on to cool down the house.
Now if you’re talking about leaving for several hours, then the question becomes extremely complicated and a number of factors have to be considered.
