No, your engine is still burning fuel as it idles…

Nah,it was meant to save the transmission. And neutral would be the option.

No, the idle speed is about the same. Park is for parking… the transmission is designed so that you don’t have to place it in park when stopped. That’s the beauty of automatic transmissions.

no you would not see any fuel savings, plus its hard on your transmission and I also belive its against the law

What is Park? Quite simply it is the setting that allows the transmission to run idle with no load and hold the car in place. Neutral will allow the transmission to run idle but it will not hold the car in place. You still need to have your foot on the break. If your feet are that tired probably should not be driving. Placing your car in park while in traffic is never a good idea. For one when the light changes your are not in the position to immediately move forward. This can also distract you from your driving when you need to constantly shift from park in to drive. Does it save fuel? Yeah probably 1 of 1billionith of a mile per gallon for every 20 hours of driving. In other words you’re not going to notice the difference. Hope this helps.

it depends…you can sit at at a red light and idle and put in in park…you will consume as much gas as just holding the brake… remember the more you give it acceleration the more gas burned because the pistions have to move faster and burn fuel faster
