I have a 2003 Ford Explorer 4×4 is there a trick to getting better gas mileage with an exhaust or a new intake

4

I already put a K&N air filter in it, should I put in a complete intake system and a new exhaust? I plan on keeping it another three or more years, is the investment worth the money I’d save in fuel?

Driving style will save far more fuel than any add on.
You’ve probably heared it before but slower acceleration, maintaining constant speed where possible including curves and corners) and learning to read the road ahead will save you more money long term. Also using a better quality ( full synthetic) oil may help

If you live in a state where they don’t do vehicle smog inspections. Then you can better gas mileage by removing the catalytic converter on your truck. It works for me.

Muhahahahahaha!!!!

I’m not sure that new performance parts will get you to get better mileage (different with a diesel, but not gas), since it might actually get better mileage with the foot needed to make it accelerate at the same speed, but since we all feel inclined to put our feet a little more down if we have more power in our use.

As most people say, the reason for good gas mileage and bad gas mileage is between the steering wheel and the seat. If you always boot it, it’ll gulp fuel down, but if you pay a little attention to how you drive, you can boost the hell out of your gas mileage.

One tip that doesn’t require changes in the way you drive is that you should use one of those additives that you put into your gas tank for instance every fifth or so fill-up or even every fill-up (this’ll pretty much destroy your savings on gas though).

The condition of the engine is often more important when it comes to gas mileage than any upgrade parts. A new engine gets its best mileage just after being broken in, and as the engine wears, all kinds of bad stuff start forming in the cylinders and other parts, and the gasoline additive will remove this and allow the engine to run like a new one.

all you need is ZMAX its a fuel and oil additive. put it in my 03 expedition and it went from 15.1 mpg to 17.5 mpg. its about 40 dollars but worth it
