I am interested in purchasing a new car, what is the most practical, gas efficient vehicle to buy?

I am a Michigan resident that needs a vehicle that is practical and efficient in fuel. Is there any vehicle out there other than a hybrid? Also, in regards to hybrids do they really save money? Currently, I drive a lot of highway miles. Help me decide.

Well, SUV’s are probably the most practical cars out there. When it comes to gas mileage, the Prius gets between 60-70 MPG. Put the 2 together and you’ll get a Ford Escape hybrid. My wife & I want 1. You can get them with 4 wheel drive and they have a CVT transmission that is VERY smooth. I think they get about 35 MPG on the highway. They’re a little pricy though-about $27000. Good luck.

get a Toyota car
Toyota Yaris or Prius
or get a used Toyota car.
My Friend’s Camry is a 1994 model, she current has 120,000miles on it and the car still looks great.
The new Toyota cars are more economic than the old ones but they all have the same features:over 100,000mileage.

After 25 years of driving and about 9 different cars I think the Honda Civic is your best bet. I have driven mine longer with less repairs than any other vehicle I’ve owned. After 6 years I still get about 30 miles/gal and I’ve had to fix the brakes once. Other than that-tires and tuneups and I had to re-glue a piece of rubber stripping. The car has been hit once and while the other car was totaled I drove away. Its comfortable and has good pick-up. What more can you ask for?
