I will continue on my gas-saving practices, just
in case it was to happen again…
I learned many tips from an ebook I have.
I didn’t change my driving habits a whole lot to begin with – I don’t drive for the sake of driving and public transport to work is not an option for me as I have a reverse commute. Besides, the public transportation runs on fuel too and the prices have skyrocketed – it would cost more in addition to taking more than twice as long.
I started planning my errands a little tighter and that won’t change but we’re really talking 10-12 miles a week at most. Buck or two.
While the cost of gas does make it easier to do more travelling it hasn’t changed my consumption at all. I’m guessing that even though the cost of gas is low right now people will still use the same or less (just my opinion).
I base this opinion on the idea that there are higher costs at the grocery store (my bill has gone up by about 30% with no change in my list), layoffs ect. The present economic situation has people scared about the security of their job and will be spending less overall.
Sad to say, but until an affordable alternative becomes available to the general population we really are slaves to the Oil and Gas Lords.
(Just as an FYI – When the weather permits I do use my feet and a bicycle for transportation)
Ehh this is just a lull in gas prices. They’ll go up again pretty soon. I’m going to use the wonderful gift of foresight and keep myself in the good habits I have now.
I don’t care if gas is 50c or $5, I hate paying for it whatever the price, so don’t change my habits one way or the other.
