How to save money on gas by pumping exact amount of fuel.?
There’s a certain formula I’ve learned back in high school that I can’t seem to remember.
It went something like this..
John needs to buy gas. If gas is priced at $4.13 per gallon and Johns car holds up to 14 gallons. How much gallons does he need to pump to get the most bang for his buck.
I’ve asked a similar question in the mathematics category but haven’t gotten a concrete answer that I’m looking for. I’m pretty sure someone out there remembers this type of equation. Thanks guys
You’re absolutely correct. I remember what it was now what I was looking for. It was the MPD. Thanks guys 
It was the calculation of how much it costs per mile depending on the current gas price. There was no saving whatsoever, my apologies.

The question as stated makes no sense. There is no difference in bang for the buck between buying 5, 10, or 14 gallons at one price.
Exactly as jerry said. There is no magic number. Its all one set price, so if its 4.13 a gallon, you’re paying 4.13 a gallon weather you get half a gallon, or 14 gallons.
Gas prices are not going to come down anytime soon. Of course, the price will fluctuate up and down, but for
the forseeable future, prices are trending up.
This is because of supply & demand, as well as politics. OPEC recently met and refused to increase the supply
of oil. Demand keeps rising in spite of the horrible world economy because of the huge emerging markets in
China and India.
The politics are the biggest problem for America’s high gas prices. America could become completely energy
independent. This would dramatically reduce the cost per gallon of fuel eventually, as well as create tens of
thousands of jobs. Most importantly, it would keep dollars in our local economy and starve our enemies of cash
they often use to threaten us.
Somehow though, politicians seem to think the exact opposite of what historically and economically proven is the
correct policy.
