How to save gas in long lines, e.g., national borders?
When in unavoidable long lines, e.g., national borders, where only one car is processed (e.g., at the check point) or at a drive-through window, what’s the best way to save gas? Hint: I have some ideas. I am openly fostering and encouraging discussion on a national plan to save billions of tons of CO2 and fuel. Discussion.

turn your car off while waiting if you are on a downward slope let the car roll till you reach the end
Turn off the engine until there is a large gap in front of you. If it’s downhill, just coast down. If not, start the engine, let it move slowly up, then shut if off again.

Turn off the engine and push your car !!!
at the drags we had long lines is the staging area and it was common to shut it off and push it by hand, we wanted to cool the engine down.. also it would save gas.. or just run it enough to move up and then shut it off..
