you use oil and gas as fuel for transportation, source of electricity, and the way to cook food and heat your house.
You can conserve them by turning off your computer and TV, walking or taking a bicycle everywhere, and eating fresh vegetables.
oil and gas are used for just about anything .
transportation(petrol diesel etc), gas is a fuel for electricity, synthetic fibres, pharmaceuticals , cooking. These are just few examples..
Since oil and gas are primarily used to produce other things, why would you want to conserve them? Compounding of growth and present value tells you to do just the opposite. Unless by “conserve” you mean finding ways to leverage more productivity from each unit of energy — in which case we’ve been doing that steadily for decades.
