When purchasing a vehicle, consider buying the most fuel-efficient vehicle that will meet most of your needs, and rent a larger vehicle or a different kind for infrequent needs; a “hybrid” vehicle that combines a high-efficiency gasoline engine with an electric motor for greater fuel efficiency; fewer power options such as automatic transmission and especially air conditioner; 2-wheel drive if you really don’t need 4-wheel or all-wheel drive.

every year. it is alot cheaper than buying more gas
check it at every oil change. Change it if it looks dingy. They’re not that expensive, so when in doubt, change it.
You can get washable, reusable ones, but they’re only worth it if you plan on having the car a loooong time.
Some owner’s manuals say that under “normal” service, the air filter lasts 25,000 miles typically. Hold the filter up to the sun or a strong lightbulb and you should see some light come through. Ideally, purchase a “green” renewable (cleanable) K&N, Fram or other filter that can be washed and reoiled as often as you like!
whenever it it show signs of dirt. what could of air do you like breathing??clean air just like your motor wants a dirty filter will diffently choke up you motor.
