how many fuel injectors does a 2000 Nissan Quest have? A dealer service consutant says four? 2 repair one 800!

6

My minivan has been missing with rhe engine light on. Three different autoshops have told me its a fuel injection problem. So Itook it to the Nissan dealer to get it scoped and the verdict is the ” #1 fuel injector is gone and that 2,3,4 are bad an on the way out. He says to repair one at a time would cost 800 dollars a piece but its better to get them all done at the same time to save money and cost only 1700 dollars.” Is this reasonable or a bunch of bull. what should I do?

what size engine is it a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder,if its a 4 it has 4 if it is 6 it has 6. Its very rare to have all injectors bad at once and injectors are very offen misdiagnosed as bad when there just dirty. Dealership doesnt mean good technition I would ask how thay tested them if thay are shorted electricly or if its just a flow problem.Try 2 fuel tanks of a injector kleener first.

A Quest would have six injectors. The dealer price for six would be about $1200, plus labor. Figure about four hours. So $1700 is high, but maybe not crazy high. Alternatively, the injectors are available remanufactured for about $35. If you took it to an independent repair facility, you could get this job done for less than half the price.

I say NEVER SEE A DEALER ABOUT REPAIRS!,

Ask some friends or a neighbor if they can recommend a TRUSTED repair shop and have them drive test drive and check the injectors, the Fuel Filter and check Fuel Pump it could be something much less expensive! Take some time and leave the DEALER BEHIND.

If they all say the injectors are bad, start by getting a Fuel Injector cleaning, see if this really helps…if so the you know for sure that sometime soon you will need them replaced

And this is a 3.0 OR 3.3 V6 Engine, Nissan Service should not be telling you you need all four Injectors replaced. There are 6, and they should know that. Sounds kind of FISHY!
Best wishes!

the expense is for taking off the intake manifold. four of your injectors are easy to get. its the back two under the manifold that are a witch. i dont remember what number cylinders are hidden but i am guessing number one is the furthest back. i had one that acted up but went away on its own. i called a local place about it and the guy told me that it is rare for fi on this engine to go bad and he would first run a check on it regardless of cel code. apparently they run an electrical check on it to see if it is truly bad. well since it went away, i never had it done. i know this sounds ridiculous and i wouldnt have believed it unless i had personally experienced it, try BP gas. my 94 quest only liked that kind of gas. it hated mobil and sunoco.
there is a tsb for 99 quest with same engine as yours: TSB #NTB01033A — SUBJECT REGARDING FUEL INJECTOR CLEANING FOR VEHICLES WITH ROUGH IDLE, HESITATION OR MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP ON WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE P0300 – P0306 STORED. *TT (NHTSA ID #625512, OCTOBER 03 2001)

yeah us lousy dealer ship techs we are dishonest and rude and whatever other garbage you want to lay on us. Just one thing when you are on the top of the food chain everyone else is always shooting at you huh!!

My dealership spends about 100,000 dollars a year to educate all of us so we will know your car inside and out and we do!!!
let me ask you the injectors are what $150.00 or so each??
and the labor is is dependanton the area you live in for dollars an hour but if you replace one and another goes bad you just paid all that money anyway. so at leasdt replace the 3 injectors on bank one.

By the way a six cylinder engine would have six injectors!!

Nissan master tech and PROUD OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I work for one of those dealerships and PROUD OF IT!!!!!!!!!
