how long does it take a gas heater to heat up a house?

3

I realize it is extremely cold outside (30 degree F). I went out for the day and put the heater down to 60 to conserve energy. But I feel it is taking a long time for the heater to warm up the house ( more than an hour) is this normal? I want it to get to 72.

In a normal house, it will take an hour or two, maybe more, to heat up completely from that temperature.

when you turned the heat down you cooled the whole house down, all the furniture has to heat back up + the walls, the bedding
so the furnace has to heat every thing back up to 70 deg,
so in the long run you lose on saving cost,s
set it at 70 and leave it there 24/7
you don,t save any thing by turning the heat down
[ regardless of what the gas company says, ] its a way to get you to use more gas,
its like your car it takes more gas to get it moving that it doe,s to keep it moving
