Add 3-5 pounds OVER the manufacturer’s recommended inflation pressure to your tires, for less rolling resistance. (Not recommended in winter, slippery, icy or wet conditions)

Good question……I have one too and the fuel milage is not as good as I thought it would be.
Get a tune up before you go and change the oil and filter…that should help.
Check your air filter. If it’s dirty, replace it. Also, if you’re tires need rotating, have them rotated. I, too, would get an oil change before you head out also.
Sell it and buy a 4 cylinder.
Be sure your Nissan is in good tune (clean air filter, oil change, and the like), remove excess weight from the car, be sure to keep your tires properly inflated (use the pressures listed on the sticker inside the driver’s door, NOT what’s on the side of the tire), and use your cruise as much as possible. Try to resist the temptation to travel at super-high speeds, the diff in economy between 55 and 75 mph can be more than 30%.
I know tire pressure can make a difference, check that your tires are at the corect levels. Also check your air filter, a dirty one can reduce your fuel milage. Don’t overpack, extra weight will alos reduce your fuel milage. Lastly don’t be to heavy on the gas, cars tend to lose fuel milage once over 60 mph.
the first thing that i would do is change the air filter
then get the “tornado”
get new spark plugs
get a fuel system cleaner
get octane booster and run premium gas and your gas mileage will go through the roof from the 26 or 27 your getting now to the mid 30 mpg range
is it carb or injection … if its carb have the jets replaced with smaller ones you will lose power but not much ( depends on how much you want to save.) if it is injection service the vech. then have the repair dealer set the ecu ( electronic computer unit) in the car as this tell the injectors how much fuel to use. and have the air mass censer and flow meter checked as it can some times only on a rear occasion do the same use up fuel as the car is not breathing as it must. yes the car has to breath as well. but watch out you do not want to kill the power of the car. and do not use octane booster if you do not have the propper pistons for it as down the road say 20000 to 30000 miles your pistons will burn and the exhust valves. tire presu. is a big fact as well s is how you use the brakes so do not ride up some poor ladys ass. you will see a savings on brakes as well.
install a throttle body spacer. it “charges” the intake air by sort of spinning it, which cools and compresses it, allowing your engine to pack more cool air into the cylinders with the same ammount of fuel, and giving you more power. now if your engine is putting out more HP and pushing you faster with the same ammount of fuel, then theoretically, you get a boost in gas mileage!
