quick shifts are always the best look at getting a short throw shifter and change gears at lower rpms to reduce fuel consumption!

If you are going downhill just go into neutral. If you have sped up enough on a highway shift into neutral until you want to speed up again. just coast as much as possible. don’t stay in one gear too long, you know, until it revs up really high. And don’t shift too soon either…

the best thing you can practice is to try not to over rev the car,you can shift out at lower speeds, and get good results from it,you just have to practice with it and see what works best for you and the car your driving, what works good for you may not work for someone else.good luck, and have a good holiday.

First of all make your shifts smooth. Don’t flutter the clutch. As far as saving fuel, if you shift gears at a lower speed you can improve your mileage significantly. I used to drive a GMC truck with a 6 cylinder and 4 speed with overdrive. I was getting 24 to26 miles per gallon. It depended on weather I was mountain driving or open road. Use your vehicle with caution and common sense and you should be able to save wear and tear on your tires, clutch, engine, and brakes.

stay in a high gear

you need to shift at the proper road speed and rpm’s, if you do not have the proper rpm’s you lug the engine which will cost a lot more to repair than the small savings on fuel. over reving will waste the most fuel. now get out there and practice.
