how are you saving gas money this summer?

I have canceled our annual camping trip to Yosemite which is a 200 mile drive one way. Gas prices here in California are at $4.25 for cheapest brand.

What are you giving up this summer to save money?

I am trying to do errands on foot. I am walking to the supermarket, dry cleaners and the drug store.

Like my 35′+ Deisel powered motor home, it’s going to sit most of the winter. It did the same thing last year while I underwent radiation for cancer. Now my doctors appointments get scheduled at a staggering rate, I can’t plan a decent trip so I’ll keep my motor home on the Hernando County, FL Airport.

In 2006 I took a trip to Alaska from Florida and return. My total fuel use was a little over 1,000 gallons. I have been converting motorhomers that 55 MPH will same them a huge fuel bill. I get 13+ miles to the gallon. When I’m well, we will take a set amount of fuel, say 1,000 gallons, look for some place to spend the summer then return to Florida.

The 13 miles per gallon for a large motor home is better than many SUV’s and expensive autos. If everyone slowed to 55 the would see for them selves.

Schedule multiple stops on trips. Remove the 50 lbs. of junk I used to keep in my trunk. Actuallly drive 55mph on the freeway. Yeah, I’m that guy in the right lane that some of you have been honking and flashing your headlights at.
