Higher revs vs higher gear (going uphill); what will be more effective for fuel efficiency?

2

If I’m traveling at 40mph on an intermediate gradient in a car that has 6 forward gears, will I save more fuel in sixth gear doing fewer revs but having to use more throttle than doing higher revs in fifth with less throttle?

you are always going to burn more fuel with higher revs fact

first off you must be driving a jeep or higher to go up a hill like that in 6th

to answer your question lower gear and more revs is the better option you may use a bit more fuel but if your in a higher gear and low revs your putting loads of stress on that engine you may pay a tiny bit extra on fuel but you will be paying for new parts and fitting service

A lower gear and higher rev will burn more gas, but going uphill in a high gear would be hell on your transmission.
