Considering this is a completely uninformative background to the question, I’m going to assume that both airplanes are equal in all other respects (performance, flight time, noise pollution, capacity, etc.).
Obviously, I would prefer the plane that is more fuel-efficient for the simple reason that it reduces carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
Are you assuming that normal and gas saving are two different things? Define normal!
If there was a more efficient plane, and it was going where I needed to go, on a suitable schedule, for a comparable cost and with comparable comfort, then I would choose the fuel efficient one – there would be no reason not to. If you introduce a lot of trade offs: slower speed, more noise, smaller seats, inconvenient schedules, luggage limitations and so on then I would not choose that one.
Every generation of jet engines that is developed is more fuel efficient than the previous one. Engines in use now are far more fuel efficient than 10 years ago.
Airlines are fuel conscious and plan routes, altitudes and speed to come up with what they consider the best balance between fuel consumption and performance.
