Don’t hammer on the gas and try no to red line through the gears.
You’ll be amazed at how much gas you can save by ditching the lead foot

Starting off from a stop in 2nd gear can help. I’d shift at 2500 rpm, the extra 500 is probably not going to make much of a difference.

I would try and keep the revs between 1500 and 3500 using all your gears – get into 5th when possible
Keep tyres inflated to correct pressure, Replace Air filter at least every 30,000 miles Use a light grade oil in engine e.g. 10w-40. API SM

- Drive sensibly!
- Read road conditions well in advance
- Accelerate smoothly and brake gently
- Use ALL your gears
- Drive with windows closed. Improves aerodynamics
- Do not use air conditioning
- Remove anything that creates ‘drag’ (e.g. roof-rack)
- Plan your travelling to avoid peak traffic flows whenever possible
- Drive as if your life depended on it… because it does!
- Refuel late at night or early morning. You do actually get more fuel for your money!
- Have your vehicle serviced regularly
- Check tyre/tire pressures regularly, including spare. Keep inflated at correct pressures
- If you can walk to your destination, do so!
- Use public transport when possible
- Car pool when possible
- If you anticipate idling for more than one minute, shut it off!
