Getting a ’06 Nissan Maxima SL… I’ve got a question about gas mileage..?
I’m planning on purchasing a Nissan Maxima (2006) and I’m hearing that with gas around $4 a gallon, this is a stupid decision? I’m a V6 enthusiast but at the same time, I do care about saving gas… Am I really making a bad decision here by purchasing this car? I commute from home to school as a student and commute back to work and then back home and my average mileage running per day is a total of 20miles.

I feel everyone should buy a 4 banger. Honda accord 35 miles to the gallon
The ’06 Nissan Maxima gets 20city/28hwy. That’s not bad for a 3.5L V6. But with gas prices really high these days, I would get something 25+ mpg city.
2006 Nissan Maxima will give you about 18 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg combined (city + highway).
This car will give you 25 miles for a fuel cost of $4.71, so overall it’s a decent vehicle to own for commuting to school or work. It scores well on emissions scale as well… Just make sure you drive optimally to save on gas.
You might want to check and see if they recommend premium gas for the 06. I have a 00 and it requires premium. It runs like crap on any other grade.
Around her premium is apprx. .40 – .45 cents more a gallon then regular.
That may not matter to you but it adds up, plus the Max gets pretty crappy gas mileage in stop and go driving.
