Gasoline question: looking to save money?
I heard of ways of saving money even while gas prices are through the roof. I’m looking for ideas of how you save(i.e. habits that you may have) to be more fuel efficient. I’m well aware things like supermarkets that offer price discounts. I’m looking for answers that are not obvious like “drive less”.

one thing i have found to do is batch the run/if you really have to go make sure you do everything that can be done on that run/drug store/supermarket/shoe store/home depot in one continuous run/that cuts out extra runs in same area/delay some stuff and get them at one time–works
attach a sail to the roof or cut holes in the bottom flintstones style
Again top gear said the same thing and I agreed with what Jermy Clarkson spoke:
“Its not what you drive that matters, its how you drive. That is everything”
Ways to save on fuel:
1. DRIVE CAREfully, don’t be harsh on the gas pedal.
2. Check tire pressure (make sure you use michelin’s I’ve seen better MPGs with those)
3. Maintain your car (fuel fiilter, air filter, fuel injectors, air induction system, PCV valvues, O2 sensors etc..
3. Lighten up your car as much as possible (get rid of spare wheel)
4. Turn off AC radio fan w/e, close up windows
5. Go 3-5 miles below speed limit, try to stay at constant speed so car doesn’t burn up fuel.
6. Reduce drag as much as possible (put body kits, not what ricers would put on civics)
7. If you have a V6 or V8, your not doing yoru pockets any good. trade it and get a 4 cylinder car.
8. hybrids will heal your pockets by fuel insurance tax
9. apply brakes slowly, don’t be hard all the time. Harder you brake the more MPGs you lose.
10. Start stop situation, city driving, pick up slowly, don’t revv past 2.5 or you burn fuel.
11. Synthetic oil tends to improve fuel economy by 12% and prevents friction but this oil is expensive.
12. Cruise control….
13. Don’t increase speed while going on a hill, try to stay consistant. Because vehicle is working hard to get up hill and overcoming gravity.
14. Buy gas on wednesdays, somehow I’ve seen them cheaper.
15. Buy gas early in the morning, meaning fuel is more dense so you get extra fuel in your tank for less $$$.
16. Don’t top off tank.
17. Seal your gas cap, because you can sometimes vaporize unnecessary amount of gas.
18. Don’t idle
Honestly its about how you drive, thats about it. I drive a 14 year old car and I see almost 30 miles out of it…
