1

Brought an old car but not certain what type of fuel to be placed in it. Secondly could anyone tell me what the long time risk of driving a car with a wrong altnator. I’ve been driving with it and saving up till I can afford to replace it. Thanks!

Well if it has spark plugs any gas will work, as the 91′s have a knock sensor.

If your Alternator is fried, then you can ruin a battery but that is about it.

If you live near a wrecking yard, you can go look at the golf’s jetta’s, passant’s, and see it they have a Alternator, then on the back side held in by 2 #2 Phillips Screws is the Voltage regulator assembly and brushes. Take one or two out, and try them in your car, you may just repair your Alternator cheaply, as most VW’s of the 81-99 used the same regulator assembly.

9 times out of 10 on a dub it is the regulator that goes.
