Comments on Fuel Saving Chips…do They Really Work?
No. Don’t waste your money. Better yet, invest it in other proven techniques to improve your gas mileage.
Believe it or not, tune ups, efficient plug wires, routine maintenance, etc., will give you better fuel economy than any trick chip.
Good luck.
As a automotive calibration engineer as well as echo’ing ken erestu’s statement, in theory they DO work but they are made so generic, and not catered for your individual car [driving style, age, wear and tear etc].
They are meant to run the car leaner because manufacturers obviously design the car to meet emissions legislations, but what happens after they are sold and “modified” is not the manufacturer’s liability.
Bottom line it is so not worth it, and out of all honesty unless your engine size is greater than say 1800cc the potential difference you can make from a chip is insignificant.
Speaking from experience spend the money on: better engine oil [fully synthetic], more efficient spark plugs and HT/ignition leads, check tyre pressures/tread, more thorough service etc. This way you actually prolong your vehicle’s lifespan whereas a chip can and most likely will reduce it.
I trust this helps? I would really appreciate it if you could please rate me as BEST ANSWER
