In my opinion they don’t get dirty. They can become clogged but then you would know. I wouldn’t use them unless you are having a problem.
There is only gasoline going through them, that is as good a cleaner as anything.

some of the better brand ones really work ,the cheaper ones don’t do so well, but the name brand ones do work good, you need to have at least 10 gallons of gas in the vehicle when you add one of those containers to the tank, but it should help it,good luck with it.

They do work, especially if you have used low-quality gasoline in your vehicle. But if you use it more than once every 3000-5000 miles, you are throwing money away. If you use a fuel system cleaner and still are unhappy with the vehicle’s performance, there is another issue at play (worn out fuel filter, injector, ignition component, etc.)

They work, gas leaves a varnish on surfaces, here is where the cleaner comes in handy.

Use good quality fuel and the “cleaner” is already in it. Top Tier gas is a organization that shows a number of brands that meet it’s criteria that’s been defined by BMW, General Motors, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen and Audi, and meets it at ALL GRADES – not just premium. See the link below for more info.

they can help to reduce varnish build up from heating a petroleum based product (gas) to truely clean injectors you need to go to a shop they will unhook fuel hook up cleaner and run the vehicle that will clean injectors. if you want to try an additive first to save money I recommend Lucas Brand and a premium grade of fuel.

Depending on the age and miles on the car, Fuel injectors rarely need any “cleaners” unless they have been contaminated by something other than gas….so if the car is high mile then you may need to replace or rebuild them. The cost for most refurbished injectors are $25.00 and up and new ones are not much more than that depending on the make and model of your car. Replacement is a fairly easy job if you know how to turn a wrench. There are plenty of good Repair manuals out there that give step by step instructions for replacing injectors. Good Luck
