Take it to the shop.
Some things you could check that might solve this fuel consumption problem:
Tire air pressure could be low or too high,
Air filter could be dirty,
Bad gas (if its really cheap), (also, winter time could be the cause of such bad fuel),
Let your car warm up before you go
Schedual a transmission flush/oil change.
-if its none of the above, it might just be the season, as winter always brings people bad fuel economy, and bad gas. Nothing you can do, But,
take it to a shop and have them take a look, you cant go wrong with that.
Could be running rich, take it in and have the fuel system checked out. Or, maybe your driving habits are suspect? A lead foot might be the culprit?
Sounds like your car could use a tune up. New plugs, wires, filters, and so forth will probably help a lot.
I’d also recommend cleaning out the fuel system. Any good Fuel Injector Cleaner will do the trick, I recommend Lucas, Z-Max, or Seafoam. Insuring that you don’t have any carbon build up in the cylinders and injectors will go a long way to improving gas mileage. Also, make sure that your tires have proper pressure in them. Too low a pressure will also hurt fuel mileage.
you need to take it to a mechanic that has an engine analyzer and get the engine checked out, it might just need a good tune-up.
