Freeway or side streets save more gas?
Which way saves more gas? Driving to a destination slowly on the side streets or fast on the freeway?

Comments on Freeway or side streets save more gas?
Driving slowly will save more gas, but because of all the stop and go of the side streets, it’s actually more efficient to drive on highways due to the consistent speed. (which is why cars almost always get better highway mileage vs city mileage.) Acceleration burns a lot of gas.
If it’s longer than 10-15 mi, the freeway is more efficient. As long as you don’t have to drive backwards to get to the highway or backwards to get to the destination.
The stopping and going really kills gas mileage.
