For saving up gas and time, which is better, driving on freeway or local?
Sometimes, I just can’t stand the doubled up traffic time especially when there is no direct A to B freeway to take. If I take freeways, I have to drive like a semi circle (on the map) to get the my home/office.
So I am thinking about taking local ways (cutting through the circle) but somehow I heard better stick with freeway? Why? Local would definitely save up mileage and time, wouldn’t it? Is driving local more dangerous than on freeway?

A vehicle in constant motion uses less gas so highway driving is more efficient compared to stop n’ go traffic. But, if you travel less distance driving through the city, you may be able to offset that highway advantage and use less fuel that route. Try both routes for a week each and measure your fuel use. That is the only way to know which way works the best for you.
As far as safety is concerned, yes, highway driving is safer. Even though the speeds are higher, all vehicles are travelling in the same direction. You can’t be T-boned or in a head-on when all cars are going in one direction only (theoretically at least…there are idiots out there that pull some boneheaded moves at times).
