Driving tips for saving gas….?
I just started driving. I have a 1999 Dodge Intrepid. It is in pretty good shape. My brother, who had used it for 4 years before me, said that it works fine and gets around 22-24mpg.
What are some driving tips to save on the gas. One my dad sometimes does is if hes going down a straight road or a slight down hill, he will pop the car into neutral. this will let the car go under 1000 RPMS. he said that that saves gas. Is it ok for the car to be switching gears from Drive to Neutral?
and i know the less hard you break and the slower you accelerate, the less gas you use. What are some other tips??

keep the tires properly inflated, keep your windows closed, turn off the car if it’s going to be idling anymore than 15 seconds
as long as you don’t drive crazy and keep ypu foot out out the gas you should get 22/24 mPh
use highways, it saves a bit gas.
(compared to local)
Don’t excellerate fast (like jack the pedal from a stand still). Stay under 2 rpms. 55mph is perfect speed limit. Change your filter. Inflate tires. Go to reliable name brand gas stations (shell, mobile, irving). I notice a big difference over all when I didn’t excellerate fast.
get all the wieght out of your car.
keep tires fully inflated… 35 psi or more
keep airfilter clean.
don’t idle… don’t use drive throughs. shut car down anytime you have more than 15 seconds stopped.
don’t use the air unless you must… it reduces fuel economy by about 1 mpg (CR) at hwy speeds, but more at lower speeds.
the car in neutral helps, but is illegal and can be dangerous.
keep the oil changed., use synthetics
use cruise control.
1 always use the highways where you can
#2 always use fuel system cleaner & fuel injector cleaner in every tank
#3 Do not gun the gas
#4 ease your speed accelerating
