Drivers, can you save gas by idling in neutral at intersections?
Auto transmission, unresolved beer and pizza debate. I don’t even want to get started. Just if you know, please state your opinion and why you know it’s the right answer. I’m just going to show my friend the results, so I’m turning this poll over to the public. Thanks!

Comments on Drivers, can you save gas by idling in neutral at intersections?
Yes because neutral requires less gas then first gear. However I wouldn’t recomend it because you put more stress on your transmission by switching gears so much.
no actually it probably costs you more because it is idling faster than it would in drive with the brake on. But really the amount would be very little
Hello; Me personally, just leave it in gear and wait for the light to change. However, if you come to a railroad crossing and there is a freight train and other cars are there as well, turn the engine off. Same goes for an accident and all the lanes are blocked and nobody is going anywhere. Turn the engine off. I am saying this is what I would do as I’ve been driving many years. Not only my pickup, but my motorcycle as well. Vic
Not really. You could save gas like the guy before said about turning of the engine if you know you are going to be idling for a long time. Don’t do it though if you have a bad battery or starter you will just be contributing to the problem.
