Does the infinti g35 REQUIRE premium unleaded fuel?
well with the gas prices going so high. Saving 20 cents or even 10 cents would make a big difference. But i am wondering if it will screw up my engine. I havent bought it yet, but it truely is the biggest turn off if i have to fill up with (1. so can i really get away with 81 or 89???

You can get away with putting 89 on it. It’s recommended for 91 or 94. I never put anything less than 91 on it…it hurts the engine; but you’ll notice a dip in power.
My reasoning was…I bought the G coupe so it would be fun to have and drive…what’s the point of having it; if you’re not getting the most out of it.
BTW, I now have an Acura TL…which I bought for economy and tech purposes…that I put 87 octane in it.
The lower the octane, the lower the performance and mileage, so that in the end, you’ve saved nothing.
yes
Do a search for Octane and G35. One of your hits should be http://www.nicoclub.com.
We went through a whole debate on this subject.
You CAN use lower octane, but your engine has to retard it’s timing to deal with the lower octane. So you cheat yourself out of power and very likely some power.
With gas prices the way they are, the difference between premium and economy gas is $4/tank.
If you can’t afford $4/tank, you can’t afford to own a G35. Gas is the least of your worries. My tires (19″) run $1000/set.
