Does performance chip really save fuel?

6

I was thinking about ways to lower my car’s fuel consumption and I came across these “performance chips” that would increase horse power AND lower fuel consumption. They only cost about 10-20 bucks. Do they really works or they are fake?

I would be surprised if they work as well as advertised. Would you have to switch to high octane fuel. That could wipe out any potential savings. If they are only $10-20 why not try it. If it doesn’t work you can always put the original chip back.

They are fake. They make your car run like crap, and overall arent worth anything.

Auto companies spend many many millions of dollars every year trying to figure out how to increase fuel economy/efficiency. If an 8 cent resistor from radioshack magically added power and saved gas, dont you think every car on the planet would come with one?

some will, but for 10-20 bucks i’d imagine those are a scam. the real ones cost hundreds of dollars.

If it only costs 10-20 bucks dont buy it its a rip off. Most chips rang between 100 to 300 and sometimes more. If you get a real chip yes it will get you bettergas milage, so will a Tornado, a K&N air filter, and a throttlebody spacer, along with some other things.

This product does not work. To increase gas mileage without spending too much, I would suggest a cold air intake/short ram intake. Research them online, if you are unsure as to what they are.

A real computer chip that applies to most cars is sold at an auto company call A & A Auto. However, this chip costs ALOT. It’s about $1500 and gives your car/truck an enormous boost in either power, gas mileage, or balances them out.

Also, don’t buy the “tornado” product, that is also a scam.
