Does keeping the a/c on in my car on low instead of high save gas? I have a 85 fleetwood brougham?

will it make a difference? How much gas extra does it use being on
it has the HT 4100 engine

No, it won’t save you on gas. It still uses the compressor on the A/C. Try using the 255. (Roll down 2 windows and drive 55 MPH).

The A/C can be on any level of fan, and it will use the same amount of fuel. The “Hi” or “Medium” Or “Low” only relates to the fan speed. The only thing that will make a difference in fuel economy is to either not use it at all, or to use the “VENT” option. This position does not engage the A/C compressor, which will save a marginal bit of fuel.

I agree…i think the caddy’s have thermostatically controlled a/c, so if you mean “turn the thermostat up to a higher temp” when you say “low”, then yes i guess you might save fitty cent on a tank of gas…maybe a little more, but i don’t believe it. The energy’s gotta come from somewhere to run the compressor, and it comes from the engine, and the engine gets it’s energy from the fuel.

I didn’t realise it actually saved gas, I just thought it reduced the power of your car??
