Does it save gas if I shift to neutral every time I slow down?
Will I save gas if I switch to neutral whenever I can (e.g. whenever I am slowing down or stopped)? I’m driving an automatic but it’s really easy to shift to neutral.

im not to sure but i would say yes, when you shift to neutral your not in a gear and your RPM typically drop in neutral. And normally higher the RPM the more gas your burning
Not enough for it to be worth it for shifting it into neutral every time you slow down.
That would hardly save any gas at all and cause you to use the brakes more.
you wouldn’t notice it as it would be a very small amount.
Anytime you remove the load from the engine it works less and uses less gas. But is it worth the shifting? I don’t think so. I don’t like the idea of shifting in and out of gear.
why yes it does but is that really worth risking the life of the transmission? it depends on how old your car is but the older the car the less technical the transmission is which means you can cause damage to it if you keep shifting into neutral then back into drive. the gas you save is pretty minimal so there’s really no reason to do that.
