That light would have to be long as hell to actually save gas…..
The act of starting an engine uses about same amount of fuel as idling for 5 Minutes
What the first guy said….and even if the light was long enough you would look like an idiot starting up your car after it turned green because it would look like you stalled it. Either that or just make people upset that they had to wait for you to start your car.
NO.
You are going to kill your starter.
Good Luck…
No sense what so ever in turning your vehicle off at stop lights. Each time your start your can you waste quite a bit of fuel.
no. you might stalled your car..
Yes turning off the engine will save you gas, the coputer is set to inject the right amount of fuel for start up………….sounds like you have the smarts go to ecomodders and learn about car and truck modding and Hypermiling………………….you will decrease your gas consuption and go further on a gallon of gas………………….by the way hybrids shut down to save gas at stop lites etc
Yes it does. They have been doing it in Europe for years. I tested my 2011 Dodge 1500 and I get 50 to 93 km extra per tank. (31 to 58 miles). Whoever said starting a car uses the same fuel as 5 mins of idling must work for Exxon.
Also you have to use you judgement on when to do it, I don’t do it at every light either. If I see it has just turned or I don’t see the opposite light counting down already I’ll shut it off. And then I turn it on when i see the opposite light go yellow… more than enough time to be ready for the light.
