Yes cruise control saves more gas because it keeps your vehicle at a steadier speed than you can do.

Yes except in manual transmissions cause they cant down shift to go up a hill so it just floors it instead

yes and no. the computer will control the amount of throttle closer than we will in order to accelerate. by doing this the car uses less fuel.

YES – definitely.

I just drove down from Boston to NYC (Tuesday night) and used the cruise control all the way.

I calculated I got 41 MPG. I could not get that with my own foot. This is how I calculated it:

(1) fill the tank to the max
(2) zero out the odometer
(3) get on the hwy and drive about 30 miles (or more)
(4) use cruise control – VERY IMPORTANT
(5) get off the HWY and get gas.
(6) note the mileage and the gas just pumped.

Take the number from #6 and calculate

MPG = miles driven / gallon used

The car is a manual shift – so it doesn’t matter.

Good Luck…

On a three hundred mile trip you will go close to 2 miles per gallon further.

Yes, cruise control normally saves gas because it keeps you at a constant steady speed.

However, that’s not true if you’re driving in hilly terrain. In that case, you’re better off not using it. You can spot hills from a distance and maintain a steadier speed on your own.

Yes, if you are driving on flat land, cruise control will save gas because your foot cannot keep the speed as steady as the cruise control can.
