Does coasting in neutral save a significant amount of gas?
I drive a manual toyota, and whenever I’m driving won a hill or something, i’ll just lip the car into neutral instead of keeping it in gear. does this save me a considerable amount of gas? are there any other repercussions? thanks

Not enough to worry about. Plus, with the car not in gear, you no longer have control of it.
It doesn’t really save gas. It’s illegal in most places, as you are no longer in control of the vehicle.
The referred to law:

turn off brain + take care out of gear = stupidity
you have no control over your speed with it out of gear. dont do it. you wear your brakes faster if you dont use your trans to downshift and slow down also
instead of being an AS*
keep it in gear when your foot is not on the throttle the ECU is giving very little fuel to the engine it’s ok while your going down hill to “drag the engine” just watch the RPM’s i try not to go over 2500-3000 RPM’s
this will save your brakes as well
i live in northern California where if you don’t do while your going down some hills you’ll catch your brakes on fire i was behind a lady in a BMW that lost her brakes coming down a hill she was able to stop it
her brakes where glowing red
just food for thought
