Does Anyone Have Any Gas Saving Tips?
I just got me a 2003 Ford Explorer and although I’m aware it’s not the most gas efficient vehicle, I still want to do all in my power to fight the expensive gas prices. All serious answers are appreciated. Thank you.

The MPG on cars is rated with speeds of 55 MPH and all accessories off. Meaning no radio is running none of the lights are running. No AC no blower or the vents no heater. Windows rolled up. What helps your mileage the most is keeping the car clean. Kick that 200 LBS of crap out of the trunk, and take anything you don’t need out of the car. Checking your tire pressure (when the tires are cold) and keeping them at the cold max level. As summer is coming up you need to let air out of your tires or they will be over inflated. Reduce your speed on the high way to 55 to 65. Anything more and the wind resistance eats up the fuel fast. No fast starts from lights and look down the road at the other lights. Try to keep the car moving as much as possible, it takes less fuel to keep a car moving then it does to get it moving. Also only run what you need. If it’s a nice day out side and your not going to be on the high way, your speed is below 45 miles an hour roll the windows down, Turn your radio down so it’s not pulling as much power. Any other accessories you have added (That fully illuminated chromium plated accessory shift knob) turn off or remove to reduce the draw of power (the harder the Alternator has to work the more fuel the engine will consume.) Also keep the engine in good working order. Have the plugs checked, and cleaned every 60,000 miles. Replace if needed. While the plugs are being replaced swap out the fuel filter. Dirty fuel filter forces the pump to work harder and can also starve the car. Making the engine work harder. Keep the air filter clean. Keep the oil changed. You would be amazed how letting your oil go that extra 1000 or 2000 miles will reduce your mileage. Sometimes by up to 4%. Hope this help.
