Does An Automatic Transmission Car Use More Gas Stopped In The Park Setting, Or Stopped In Drive?

Say for instance you are stopped at a fast food place drive through and you want to conserve gas, should you throw it in park and let your foot off the break, or keep it in drive and hold down the break? What setting would save more gas?

Neither, because putting the vehicle into Park just sticks a pin in the engine while it’s still running. In either Park or Drive, the engine is doing the same thing.
And don’t just stick the car in park and let off the brake! This will eventually snap off the pin that is inserted into the engine when you put it in park. You DO NOT want chunks of METAL floating around in your engine. I would advise you break yourself of this habit immediately!
