It will not cure a bad injector, but will help keep them clean…. I use a can like once or twice a year.

depends if your injectors get dirty in the first place and what is the quality of fuel you used.

Generally the common advice is to just to do a treatment the tank before an oil change, so any contamination into the oil will be changed out.

The product you buy also makes a difference on if it will do anything.
Gumout Regane, Redline, Amsoil are typically the favorites on BITOG due to high concentrations of PEA, a cleaning agent.

In particular Gumout can be had pretty cheap if you look for sales and stock up.

In my opinion, there’s no magic pill or solution that will help you save money.

Gas already has detergents in it to keep the injectors clean. At least that’s what the gasoline companies are advertising.

Companies that make the fuel injector cleaners you buy in a can at auto parts stores are telling you that you need their product to keep your injectors clean.

I tend to believe the gasoline companies. If their gas didn’t keep the injectors clean, they won’t be selling too much gas.

Fuel injection cleaners help efficiency, but only for the moment you use it and then the carbon starts building back up again. I use a device that is permanent. Cleans away the carbon and never lets it come back.

I was at a tune-up place one day and the service manager tells me that he has to charge me another $15 to clean the throttle body. Asked him if he just planned on spraying some cleaner down the throat and he said “yes”. Asked him to show me the dirty throttle body. He took off the air cleaner and looked down the body with a flashlight. To his astonishment he yells out, “Hey, how old is this truck?” Told him it was 10 years old with 110,000 miles on the engine. Told me that the throttle body was perfectly clean. He asked me if I had just cleaned or replaced it. Told him I never touched it. This puzzled him and I explained what I did. (this was 15 years ago)

You see it is a simple law of physics that any carbon that comes out of fuel must have a way to get back into the fuel again. There is and it has in all my vehicles for decades. I never buy fuel injector cleaners. I don’t even let my car warm up in a cold morning. Just start it up and take off. My current vehicle is a 1999 Pontiac Gran AM GT. It has 145,000 miles on it and runs as good as new.

Now what am I doing tech people?
