Do you think it would be good to have single seater commuter cars?
They wouldnt have to cart around 3 empty seats and a large cabin thereby saving fuel and extending range.

They are fantastic as long as you have no intentions of dating.
No, I feel that you can’t put a price on safety and while you’re saving gas you won’t be living to see tomorrow if some SUV or truck t-bones you.
no. Because then there would be more cars, which would consume even more fuel.
Yes, that would be good….deerrrrrr! The problem would be are people going to buy a car for the single use of commuting to work and back when more than just a work commute goes into a car buying decision. Otherwise everyone would probably have a GEO METRO to get to work with, and their Sedan or SUV to cart the family around and go grocery shopping. People can’t afford to buy multiple single-purpose vehicles.
I asked my wife how she would feel if I bought a 2 seat sports car, and she replied that we would not have room for my daughter. (really this was the point, but I digress…)
I can only imagine what she would say to a single seater.
None the less, Motor bikes are single seat machines and they sell quite well. I don’t think that small single person enclosed vehicles would be rebuffed. especially in colder climates and rainy regions.
It’s a nice idea, but then does that mean you have 1 tiny car for each commuter in your family and then 1 car for the family? If you’ve got a family of 4 with 3 drivers (Mom, Dad, teen), that means 4 cars – 3 1-person cars and 1 family car. Somehow, I don’t think that would fit in most people’s drive ways or parking structures.
I’d rather see commuters on bicycles if possible and leave the family car for large trips.
