no, it requires more fuel to start up the engine than wait at at a light

traffic jams are a whole other story

its better to just put it in neutral instead of drive while holding the engine with the brake.

not really it genraly take more feul to start it than to let it idle for a few mins. the best thing if its an automatic is to put it in park.if its in gear it does something called sheering oil and will lug your engine in turn maling it work harder

no but they do this in Europe and Asia and I told them to stop doing this when I was in the car..they did ..as I am the boss

Yes, if you are going to be parked for more then 1 minute. If you ever notice, look at a ups truck. they only make right turns, and they shut there vehicle off at most stop lights and when they come to stops at houses. and they save more gas then any other company..

Yes you do save gas. The old adage that it takes extra gas to start the car comes from pre fuel injected and computerization of cars when you were required to depress the accelerator to start the car. With newer cars you do not have to do that. If you look at your owners manual under starting the manufacturers tell you not to depress the accelerator when starting. Even the oil companies recommend shutting down your motor to save gas.

put your car in neutral if your stopping for a while or at traffic lights uses less petrol in idle
